MOSCOW, July 14. /TASS/. Belarus’ multi-vector policy should not call into question the political and defense agreements with Russia and with other allies in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Dmitry Mezentsev, Secretary of State of the Russia-Belarus Union State, said in a televised interview with Rossiya-24 channel on Wednesday.

“There has long been a concept of multi-vectorism. I think that it is still on the agenda. It is another thing if the multi-vector concept can jeopardize or call into question any of the Russian-Belarusian agreements, we must talk to our partners about this extremely openly and frankly. If we are aware that the export-oriented model of the Belarusian economy requires, without doubt, broad export supplies, if the multi-vector policy is considered as a factor supporting such a policy, which would not imperil the political and defense agreements with Russia and other allies within the CSTO and EAEU, then we would wish success in that. But the dialogue, and a multi-vector one, is always a dialogue with partners, not with oneself.”

“The situation which Belarus is in now requires more support from Russia. Yesterday’s meeting of President Vladimir Putin with his counterpart Alexander Lukashenko at the Konstantinovsky (Constantine) Palace only proves it,” he added.
