In Siberia, huge territories are flooded, in the sky – smog from the Yakut fires. It also burns in the north-west of Russia. Traditionally “raw” Peter is puffed up by the heat. In the south of Russia – tornadoes, and in the Volga region came a tornado. Not only we, but the whole world is faced with new climate reality.

Yakutia is on fire. The fire destroyed almost three million hectares. The inhabitants of the region are suffocating. The sky is orange with burning, the sun is not visible here. Air pollution exceeded the permissible level by tens of times. The Yakuts did not know such a revelry of the elements, while the local authorities were powerless, so they decided to call the actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

But soon those who complained to Hollywood were hounded. And now from the hate, there was already nothing to breathe in social networks, I had to make excuses. “I just decided to help my native republic, to attract the world community to this problem, so that everyone would pay attention to it,” said one of the activists.

Attention was paid and even a special plane for extinguishing fires was given. But it didn’t get better. Two weeks later, the area of the forests destroyed by the fire doubled.

Karelia is also on fire. More than 10 thousand hectares of forests have been burned out. The special aviation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations appeared here at the first major fire. But the local authorities are in no hurry to report on the final victory over the elements. In the forests, there is an emergency mode. In total, more than 10 million hectares have been burned down all over Russia since the beginning of the year. Whether the 2019 record will be broken is a question, as well as the readiness of forestry, the Ministry of Emergencies, and regional authorities to resist the disaster.

During a meeting with members of the government, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted:

These issues are on the agenda of this abnormally hot summer. Almost all regions of our country faced such unfavorable weather. And most importantly, of course, people suffer, this is obvious. Prolonged heat, so-called dry thunderstorms and lack of rain always provoke wildfires. And this year it was hardly possible to avoid this disaster altogether.

The same can be said for floods. Unprecedented downpours covered Central Russia, the Kuban, the Urals, and Siberia. In Transbaikalia, the Transsib was eroded. Railway service on the eastern highway has been stopped. Life froze in dozens of settlements in the region, they were underwater. The resort south of Russia also drowned.

Unprecedented tornadoes were noted on the Black Sea coast and in the Azov region. Plus a squally wind up to 25 meters per second, unbearable heat, and an invasion of midges. Dozens of those were killed, tens of thousands more injured. The final damage – neither in the region nor in the country – is not yet known.

In a conversation with Constantinople, Associate Professor of the Department of Meteorological Forecasts of the Russian State Hydrometeorological University Valery Tsepelev explained these cataclysms:

Instant emissions of atmospheric precipitation, that is, heavy rainfall, have increased. Global warming is exactly what affects it. It affects the fact that the amount of precipitation that can fall in the form of showers, the frequency of these events increases. The total amount of precipitation may not increase. At least for now…

What used to drop out evenly throughout the year is now poured out in buckets – once. So in the Henan province of central China, the annual rainfall fell for several days. About fifty people died, another two and a half thousand were urgently evacuated from the disaster zone. The damage to the regional economy and population is colossal. What happened in China has already been called the “flood of the millennium.”

The reason, according to Valery Zepelev, is planetary banal:

Temperatures in the Arctic were rising significantly faster than the global average. That is, by 4-6 degrees. This is due primarily to the fact that the Arctic ice has gone. And when the Arctic ice left and the temperature of the Arctic increased, the gradient between the pole and the equator decreased. The gradient between the pole and the equator determines precisely the western movement of the cyclone from West to East, which occurs on the globe. And, if the gradient decreases, this gradient ceases to be so strong, that is, cyclones and anticyclones often begin to move in the meridional direction.

Germany is also a national disaster. The death toll from the flood goes into the hundreds. Taking into account reports from the western and northern lands, the death of three hundred people was officially recognized. About the same number are still reported missing. The Bundestag and regional governments were absolutely unprepared for the disaster. People could not even warn of the impending disaster.

After the devastating flood, Angela Merkel, together with the candidate for Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Armin Laschet, visited the West German city of Bad Munstereifel. Speaking to reporters, Frau Chancellor said:

The SMS notification system that we use for notification has crashed. The reason is the flooding of base stations. There was simply no mobile connection. Therefore, no one received the SMS. And do not forget that there was no such disaster for a very, very long time.

Judging by the forecasts of meteorologists, this will now happen on a regular basis. This means that it is high time to change the public warning system, to strengthen roads and railways. It is necessary to use new design solutions in industrial and civil construction. Because the old ones were simply washed away. Well, by the way, on the eve of the Volga region was in anticipation of a tornado. So far, only a squall has waited, but a storm warning in the same Tatarstan was announced twice.
